Histopathology Overview

Specialty training in Histopathology is available at Maidstone Hospital in which our excellent training Department offers a wide range of specialties. The service is provided from a purpose built cellular Pathology Department that opened in 2011.

Overview:
  • A specialist Department of 10 Consultants with 10 training posts
  • Specimens received from 3 NHS Trusts (MTW, Dartford and Medway)
  • Central Pathology Department for the Upper GI Cancer Centre for Kent and West Kent Gynaecological Oncology Centre
  • Other major subspecialties include Lower GI, Breast, Urological, Skin & Head/Neck Pathology and Haematopathology
  • Excellent level of Consultant Supervision with great training facilities, including dedicated trainee office space, multiheader room with projection facilities and macroscopic/microscopic photography
  • A comprehensive local teaching programme with participation on Deanery led training days
