Specialty training in Histopathology is available at Maidstone Hospital through an excellent training Department offering a wide range of specialties. The service operates from a purpose-built Cellular Pathology Department that opened in 2011, serving as a central pathology hub for multiple NHS Trusts and specialized cancer centers.

Departmental Structure and Expertise

The specialist department comprises 10 Consultants supporting 10 training posts, processing specimens from three NHS Trusts (MTW, Dartford and Medway). As the Central Pathology Department for both the Upper GI Cancer Centre for Kent and the West Kent Gynaecological Oncology Centre, the facility delivers comprehensive subspecialty coverage including Lower GI, Breast, Urological, Skin & Head/Neck Pathology and Haematopathology.
