Work Experience

At Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) we offer Work Experience placements specifically for pupils from local Schools who have an interest in becoming a doctor. The placement will be supervised by a senior doctor and aimed at gaining an insight into a career in medicine. 
 
Eligibility:

Due to the high number of applications we are only able to offer Work Experience placements to those pupils who are in Year 12 and live in the local catchment area for the Hospitals, which are Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs including parts of East Sussex e.g. Crowborough

  • Achieved at least 5 GCSEs at grade 6-9 including English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and be studying to achieve the qualifications that will enable you to met the criteria for a place at Medical School and
  • Committed to applying to a UK Medical School within the next 12 months
 Placement:

A placement will be typically no more than three days, normally Tuesday-Thursday. There will also be the opportunity to attend an online post-placement session with our Medical Education Fellows to reflect on the placement and explore how the experience might be used in your Medical School application.  

Please note that we will do our utmost to meet specific requests, however we cannot guarantee particular specialties or sites.

  • Following approval of your application and identification of a placement, you will receive email notification of the details.
