Overview

ACCS Core Training is based in the Acute, A&E and Anaesthetics & ITU Departments at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.

Core training year 1

Six months of Emergency Medicine and six months of Acute Medicine. Daily Emergency clinics are held during the week as well as an ambulatory care service.

Core training year 2

Anaesthetics where you will be supernumerary during your first three months after which, having passed your initial test of competency, you will be expected to be able to undertake anaesthetics on your own with appropriate support and supervision.

Core training year 3

The full ACCS programme runs for three years.

ACCS Core Training at Tunbridge Wells Hospital offers a comprehensive training experience within a busy and well-equipped 24-hour Emergency Department, which is a designated level 2 trauma centre.

  • 24hr Emergency Department with 19 majors bays, 6 resus bays, a 7 bedded CDU and a large minors area.
  • X-ray and CT scanning within the department.
  • Heli pad outside to receive urgent cases.
  • Part of the SELKAM trauma network.
  • Designated level 2 trauma centre.
  • Exposure to a high volume of patients (65,000 attendances annually).
