Valentine’s Escape Room

This month we carried out our second Medical Escape Room; this time with a Valentine’s motif. In this iteration we had teams of 4th and 5th year medical students race against the clock to untangle each clue and weave their way through some wild twists and turns to save our patient (and themselves) from heartbreak.

We had an incredible turn out with close competition and fantastic feedback from our students and are aiming to run a further session before the end of the summer term.

Dementia Study Day

We created and delivered a dementia study day for the KMMS third year medical students. This included four back-to-back simulation sessions on how to take a history from someone with dementia, how to take a collateral history, falls assessment and how to carry out a MoCA (an assessment tool for cognitive dysfunction).

The students provided positive feedback and found that it helped them to appreciate the struggles that patients have when they are diagnosed with dementia and some tools we can utilise as doctors in our assessment of these patients. We look forward to the next dementia study day in June!

Work Experience programme

This month we have been working on something very exciting: we completed filming for our work experience video. The video will be for sixth form students who attend MTW for their work experience and we can’t wait to see the finished result!
